Plans are in place for another staging of street dance series KGN 5 tonight. Scheduled for the Terrace Bar and Grill, Southdale Plaza in St Andrew, the promoters have promised an authentic dancehall vibe.

“For this staging, we reverted to the authentic dancehall feel and decor. Terrace Bar and Grill was the location where we hosted the Rojo edition last February and it is the ideal place. It gives you the dancehall feel right in the middle of the uptown central, which is right there at Southdale Plaza,” co-promoter Chavaughn Oneil told Jamaica Observer.

He continued: “Patrons can expect the authentic KGN 5 vibe. Patron satisfaction is our utmost importance. We listen to their concerns from prior staging and perfect it as we go on — from the best of the best DJ selections to the overall feel and atmosphere of the event with our all-red decor and theme.”

Oneil spoke about the DJ selection for each event.

“For each staging we research and seek for DJs who are the complete package and those who we feel are diverse enough to fulfil the best of both worlds (both dancehall and the uptown space alike). Our aim is to always have each patron feeling satisfied when the event ends.”

Commissioned to provide the intense musical heat are DJ Malik, DJ Hatta Klaps, Bishop Escobar and DJ Sir Toxik.

KGN 5 is held three times a year. There are plans to have a fourth staging outside of the Corporate Area.

“The concept of the event when we conceptualised it almost 4 years ago was to fill the void that was missing. The aim was to merge the best of both worlds of Dancehall and uptown, where both entities can attend and feel a part of a movement. It's not just a party, it's an event,” said Oneil.

Smirnoff Ice is a major sponsor for KGN 5.
